Showtime on Letterboxd https://boxd.it/22ts
– Lethal Weapon meets The Truman Show
– I love buddy cop movies! I also like this spin on that concept. Meta, I believe is the term.
– One of the TV producers is the voice of Lois in Family Guy, Alex Borstein
– Mitch mentions the movie Serpico. Serpico is a great cop movie! Al Pacino plays a cop doing his best to bring down corruption within the police department
– Trey’s audition 😂
– YES! William Shatner is their show’s director! “Officer. T. J. Hooker.”
– Fav line “What if it’s cyanide?” 🤣
– Trey realizes it’s the perfect time to give his ‘origin story’ for the show
– The cameraman is Frank from 30 Rock lol
– His shirt says Folsom Prison Film School 🤣🤣 like he’s so “badass” of a camera guy
– Trey has a Serpico poster above his bed, which mirrors Mitch
– She pulls back the curtain to reveal the view is a brick wall. Clever. Meaning his whole personality is boring/his work.
– They gave them both new cars for the show 😂. That they can’t drive very well.
– One thing I look for in movies is ‘commitment to the concept’. So far, this movie has that in spades.
– Mitch is just saying all the ‘rogue cop movie’ catchphrases 😂
– Eddie Murphy is hilarious! I feel like his 1995-2005 era is actually underrated. Movies like this, Pluto Nash, Haunted Mansion, Shrek… His performances are solid.
– The skip from the club to them in the car is jarring. They just walked out of the club after that scene?!
– I kinda like his new apartment. And his dog’s name is Powder 🤣
– Pretty solid overall. It’s pretty similar to The Other Guys!
